This page shows the old houses that were demolished along Staplehurst Road, Howard Avenue and Windmill Road, to make way for the Staplehurst Link Road

Houses were demolished up to number 64

This is the view now. Behind the bushes lies the bridge.

The top of Howard avenue is now where the new bridge stands.

As you can now see, the bridge going across the top of Howard Avenue, which is now a cul-de-sac

Everything in this view is gone and has been replaced by the bridge.

This view shows how Staplehurst Road used to be one complete road.

Now Staplehurst Road is closed just past the digger in this picture and you have to go down Hythe Road to get to Chalkwell Road.

Top of Windmill road. Opposite the shop that was called "Windmill Stores"

This old warehouse was demolished and Staple close was later built in its place.

Staple Close as it is in 2008, but now it is on the roundabout

Staple Close as it was before the Roundabout was built.

Notice the old Barbers still standing on the left.

These are the new properties that now stand on the new corner a bit further up the road from where the Barbers stood (On left of opposite picture)

This was Staplehurst Road onto Crown Road as it used to be. These buildings were demolished so the roundabout could be built.

The roundabout now stands just a bit past the blue car in this picture.

Here is the roundabout before the new properties were added.

New properties now stand where other houses were demolished to make way for the roundabout.

This was the end of Staplehurst Road opposite St Paul's Street which used to be the main road through. Stumble Inn (Formerly Crown Inn) is on the right of this picture.

Looking to the end of Staplehurst Road as it is now. Stumble Inn in middle of picture.
